My DC trip...the Introduction
I was in DC the beginning of this week and have some fun presidential tidbits to report. My plans ended up changing...but to the good! I had planned to see the new FDR monument, but decided that I didn't want to deal with DC alone (yes, yes, I'm a wimp). So I did day trips into the countryside and spent Wednesday at Monticello (I spent Tuesday at Mansassas...which I thought was simply wonderful, but doesn't really apply here so you'll have to check out my personal blog for comments on that)! It was a lot of driving, but well worth it. Plus because Madison and Monroe lived so close, I also was able to stop by and see Montpelier and Ash Lawn. So over the next few days, I plan to do a post on each of these presidential homes...so stay tuned for Part I: Montpelier!
