Blogger Poll: Who do you think is the most obscure American President?

Blogger has a new feature for allowing blogs to have polls. I decided to give it a try. If you look over to the right, you will see a question. It is "Who do you think is the most obscure American President?" I decided on five possible candidates.

Please vote in the poll. It will be up a week. Do you think this is a good feature? Should I keep this up with new weekly questions? If so, do you have suggestions for future questions?

Update:

This poll has closed. Thanks to those who voted. The winner of the highly unscientific poll was Fillmore at 51%. Arthur came in second with 20%.

Taylor, Polk, Arthur, Pierce, Harding

Polk isn't obscure! He is the only president to have fulfilled all this campaign promises! Have to agree on Pierce, though, as obscure. Taylor was well known as a war hero at least.

As to polls - they are fun little addition, but that does mean keeping up on them:)

I would think James Buchannan would be among the bottom five...I know he is usually among the least forgotten

Whenever I ask my students to name all the presidents, those are the ones they routinely miss. That was my criteria.

I was just looking at the voting results...Fillmore is leading. See, he's always the butt of the obscure president jokes, so I don't think he's obscure....see my convululted reasoning?

OK, the poll idea seems good. Not only will people participate, they will leave comments suggesting different answers. :]

I am not sure if expired polls archive, so I will add updates to the blog poll posts indicating how the vote went.

I know this is work but I will try to add a new poll every week. Google may still be unsure of this blog but there is a small community building here. I think weekly polls may help to further this.

I think the poll idea is great. I'd respond with Rutherford, Arthur, Garfield.....When I created my first post for this site I asked a few people who the most obscure president was in their opinion. Hands down the response was Arthur. I think I asked about twenty people...educators and family members.

Definitely Arthur! I keep forgetting him myself and my father's name was Arthur!
