I admit, I had to see the debut of Jenna Hager Bush on the Today Show. I couldn't find her first interview online, but I did find the welcoming debut the Today Show did. This includes interviews with Hager, her twin sister, her mother and grandmother.
Her first interview was with 11-year-old Dalton Sherman, a YouTube and media sensation with his motivational speaking:
Hager's feature on Sherman, which ran three or four minutes, also included interviews with his parents and his first-grade teacher, Ms. Redmond, who first encouraged Dalton to try public speaking.
Lauer gave Hager a subtle hand late in the feature when he commended Ms. Redmond for recognizing that Dalton could make good use of his talkative nature.
"She took a negative and turned it into a positive," said Lauer, which is the kind of quick one-line summation that correspondents themselves usually include in a report.
